Austin Voices has many ways for you or your group to volunteer!

Food Distributions (multiple times each month)

AVEY needs 30-40 volunteers several times each month to help with drive-through food distributions at various campuses. These distributions serve between 300 and 450 families at a time. Click here to register and find the latest dates for volunteering. Once you’ve registered, you’ll be contacted to confirm your participation.

Community Events

AVEY sponsors community events like HopeFest and Harvest Fest that require hundreds of volunteers to be a success. We also work with local communities, schools and youth to create community dinners, health fairs, clean ups and community walks. Contact Gabriel Estrada at gestrada@austinvoices.org to find out more.

Family Resource Centers

AVEY sponsors Family Resource Centers at eight AISD schools (Burnet, Dobie, Martin, Mendez and Webb Middle Schools; Navarro, Northeast and LBJ High Schools) that have a number of volunteer and funding opportunities, including providing bus passes and emergency gift cards for families, family adoption during holidays and helping with adult education academies. Contact Julie Weeks at julie.weeks@austinisd.org or 512.797.4847 to find out more.

Stand Up After School Programs

AVEY has worked across Austin to develop a generation of youth leaders through innovative after school programs. Currently, we have Just Keep Livin’ after school programs at Northeast and Akins High Schools. Past programs have included middle school and high school Stand Up Clubs, including the successful Ambassadors program at Eastside Memorial High School. We are in the process of starting new middle school and high school Stand Up clubs in 2019-20. We are also looking for interns to work alongside our instructors. Contact Gabriel Estrada at gestrada@austinvoices.org or 512.300.5957 to find out more.

Save Texas Schools

AVEY sponsors Save Texas Schools, a program that mobilizes public education supporters statewide to support high-quality public education for all Texas children. STS has sponsored huge statewide rallies in 2011, 2012,  2013, 2015 and 2017. STS has also sponsored educational events and conferences to prepare advocates for legislative sessions, as well as successfully worked to pass legislation to support at-risk students. Currently, STS is continuing to work with legislators to increase funding, reduce testing and support community schools.  Contact Allen Weeks at aweeks@austinvoices.org to find out how you can volunteer with STS in Austin or elsewhere around Texas.

Group Opportunities for Service

Various groups, including faith-based, university and other service organizations, contact Austin Voices for opportunities to do service events. While we try to connect volunteers to already established school events, we can also help plan community and campus events, including weekend events. Contact us to see how we can work together. The more advance notice, the better! Contact Gabriel Estrada at gestrada@austinvoices.org.
