Right Qustion Project

Austin Voices engages parents in a unique way by utilizing “The Right Question Project”. The Right Question Project process helps parents organize their thoughts, identify new issues and layers of complexity, prioritize their concerns, and come up with effective ways to communicate their concerns. Parents who learn to form their own questions regarding their child’s education are no longer dependent on someone else to decide what they need to know. They are better able to think and act for themselves and they are able to hold themselves and the schools more accountable for providing students with a quality school experience.
Focus:
- Mobilizing parents to understand and actively participate in the larger decision- making process that affect individual students and our public schools
- Connecting parents to each other and to their children’s schools
- Engaging parents to develop and sharpen their advocacy skills and put them into action
Format:
- Bilingual 2-hr workshops focusing on topics ranging from standards and assessments to school environment and the decision-making process
- Workshops are highly interactive with parents talking 95% of the workshop!
- At the end of each workshop, parents take home an action plan outlining how to get their questions answered
- Parents are encouraged to attend all 5 workshops in the series
- Childcare and refreshments are provided
