Austin Voices Co-hosts "American Teen" Screening and Brunch

On July 10, Austin Voices partnered with the Alamo Drafthouse to host a sneak preview screening of the new documentary, American Teen, about five teenagers going to public school in Warsaw, Indiana. The packed theater watched the heartache and humor of the students’ lives and remembered their own high school experiences, then audience members got the chance to visit with five key members of the cast and ask questions about the film and its effect on their lives.

The next morning, select members of the audience met the cast of the film at the Alamo Drafthouse and rode on a school bus to Garza High School. At Garza fans and cast enjoyed a gourmet brunch of “nouveau cafeteria food” created by Drafthouse executive chef, John Bullington. Attendees included Austin Voices youth consultants and staff, Garza High School staff and students and winners of a high school story submission contest Alamo Drafthouse held to promote the screening.
